How to swing through and release the club?
Q. I've played about 8 times this season and overall have been playing pretty well for my standards. However, yesterday, I played one of the worst rounds of my life and got really discouraged. Does anyone have any hints, tips, or drills that may help me swing through the ball (not at it) and release the club (a term I've been hearing a lot lately)? Also, tips on staying down on the ball would be helpful. Thanks.

A. I cannot give you a golf lesson on here now but here are tips for hitting the ball. From the 6 or 7 iron on down to the wedges only use 70% of your swing power. Longer clubs you may use 70% to about 90% of your personal power. Take the club back smoothly and start down smoothly but then hit through the ball. This is the tip you were looking for. Hit through the ball by keeping your clubface facing the target as long as you can. For instance using your driver - if another ball were teeded up 6 or 8 inches in front of your ball you should hit it too. Finish most swings with your belt buckle facing the target. Your grip is most important. Get that grip correct for you. Palms facing palms is not a bad way to go. If a slice shows up try… [cont.]

What does a swing part stand for in a musical theatre programme?
Q. Okay so I have read loads musical theatre programmes and under a lot of the casts names where the part is displayed there is the words swing. What does it stand for? I figured it meant that it means they play lots of little parts throughout the show?

A. A person who is the "swing" is basically an understudy for a number of people, usually the ensemble. They might also have a regular role in the show. For instance, a "female swing" would be someone who learns (most of) the female roles in the show, and is ready to step in if there's a sickness, absence, etc.

How do I improve my swing in slow pitch softball?
Q. I used to be a power hitter now i have lost a lot of weight and don't have as much pop or strength to muscle the ball out of the park. I still have the same swing which really hurts me and cant seem to fix it and keep uppercutting in my swing. I also am a right handed hitter and continue to pull the ball to left field almost every time. What do i do? How can i stop from pulling the ball so much as well?

A. I've played slow pitch my self a few years back. For the swinging, the most important thing is timing (same for every other kind of softball baseball). Since the ball goes up and then comes down, don't rush. Do not rush to smash the ball, because then you'll just stretch and the results won't be good. You said you are a power hitter, if you loosed lot's of weight that won't mean you can't hit as far. You lost it probably because you swung too early. It's slow, so it tempts the batter to swing. Go the the batting cages and try this next time, wait for the ball to drop into your reach and then give it all you got, hopefully it get's to the distance you want.
